An unusual thing happened in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania on Saturday morning, May 15 -- the sun shone brightly. What makes that so unusual (you may be asking!)? Well, it was DC's 14th Benefit Auction and we have been accustomed to some very rainy (and sometimes cold) auction days since our bi-annual Benefit Auction began in 1989! All in all, May 15 was a perfect day with lots of items on the Live Auction Block -- masterfully handled by John Clark and Henry Stolzfous, auctioneers with John Hess Auction Service, Manheim, PA, who so graciously donated their time and energy to be a part of the day along with MC's Ed Abrams (KYW News Radio) and our very own Russ Nixon. Some members of the DC community got a head start on their bidding by attending the Friday evening Silent Auction and Garden Party along with the "Twice is Nice" Furniture Sale (new this year), shopping the Flea Market and previewing the auction items slated for Saturday. More than 100 children also enjoyed dinner (compliments of Chick-fil-A) and a movie on Friday night while their parents shopped. At the end of the 14th Benefit Auction Weekend, DC netted $65,000 in support of the Tuition Assistance Fund! Special thanks to all those who so generously donated their time, treasures and talent to make this event so special and such a success for the benefit of our school community. To God Be the Glory!
