Meet the Head of School
Dr. Timothy Wiens became DC’s fourth Head of School in July, 2013.
Tim’s career spans 25 years in a variety of positions at independent schools, public schools, and higher education. Prior to joining DC, he served as a college professor, headmaster, assistant principal, dean of students, history teacher, and coach. He is the author of numerous articles and is the co-editor, along with his wife, Dr. Kathryn Wiens, of the book, Building a Better School. Tim currently serves on the summer faculty at Vanderbilt University, co-chairing the Peabody Professional Institute for Independent School Leadership and teaching within Peabody College’s Independent School Master of Arts degree program. Likewise he serves at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education as Co-Director of the ADVIS-Penn Summer Leadership Institute. Tim holds a bachelor’s degree with a double major in psychology and education, a master’s degree in educational leadership, and a doctorate in leadership.
More important than his work, Tim has a passion for God and finds great joy as a husband and father. He and Katie have one son, Eliot, who attends DC, and they are the dog parents of their two Great Danes, Greta and Lena. The Wiens family loves to travel together and Tim is an avid reader and sports enthusiast. The Wiens have found great community at DC and feel blessed to be a part of DC’s legacy in providing an exceptional education and in working to fulfill the school’s mission to educate students who will serve God and impact the world through biblical thought and action.
