Growing up in the public school system of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, I was influenced by godly parents, a strong church home, and the ministry of Youth for Christ. I attended Taylor University for undergraduate work in elementary education where I met and later married a graduate of Delaware County Christian School. He returned to teach and coach at DC while I began my teaching career in the West Chester Area School District. After earning a Master's degree at West Chester University, I began teaching second grade at DC. I was privileged to be mentored in my early understanding of Christian education by Dr. Roy and Peg Lowrie. During the years when our three children were small, my husband and I served in Christian schools in the Philadelphia area, Pittsburgh and Atlanta returning to the area so that our children could attend and graduate from DC. I returned to DC to develop and teach the elementary enrichment program for advanced students. I have also worked to develop services for special needs students and currently serve as the elementary resource room teacher. I am grateful to God for the blessing of serving at DC.

A simple sign twirled above the students' heads as they worked in a nearby classroom in the public school where I first taught. It was in the 70's when humanistic ideals permeated methodology and curriculum designed for even the youngest students. The sign read, I CAN DO ANYTHING. It reminded me of the familiar verse in Philippians 4:13 in which Paul says, ' I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength.' But that was not what it said. I realized that God was using the incomplete and therefore misleading message of that sign to show me the limitations of my teaching apart from the perspective of His Word. Now, years later, I clearly remember the freedom and fulfillment I felt when I first came to DC and was able to connect biblical truth to the curriculum and teach through the filter of the Bible. That responsibility continues to be the challenge, joy and blessing of my work at DC. I am honored to contribute to the great work of educating students for eternity.
