Mr. Rob Atkins
During my high school years in eastern Pennsylvania I had several teachers and coaches that were incredibly influential in my life. That continued throughout my time at Baptist Bible College with various professors and peers on the soccer team. Those relationships played a large part in my desire to be part of Christian education as a high school Bible teacher and boys soccer coach. These years at DC have been a rich blessing to me and my family.
I do what I do here at DC because I believe in the mission of the school and I believe that we are driven by that mission which says 'We will Educate students who will serve God and impact the world through Biblical thought and action.' It is not just a nice phrase but instead a focused spotlight that directs what we do and why we do it. I count it a great privilege to be part of a mission like that.
As a Bible teacher at DC I desire to help our students have a 'God-entranced view of all things.' Their academic studies and various pursuits as a student can only find their ultimate meaning and purpose in realizing the truth of Paul's words in Colossians 1:16-17 'For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.' It is a pleasure helping students at DC to see this truth in both the classroom and the soccer field.
I love spending time with my wife and kids. If I am not doing that my favorite thing to be doing is to have a pen in hand while poring over a great book, preferably something by Edwards, Spurgeon or even occasionally a current living author! I also really enjoy backpacking and if I had to choose a spot it would be Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario, CA where I have spent many weeks hiking and canoeing over that past 14 years.
