Other Information
2010

I grew up in Emmaus, PA and attended Bethel Bible Fellowship Church from childhood through college. While in high school, I played basketball and baseball and was very involved in my youth group. As a student at Cedarville University, I played baseball and received a bachelors degree in Public Administration. I also worked for four summers as a counselor and Assistant Program Director at Victory Valley Camp in Zionsville, PA. Upon graduating from Cedarville I was hired as the Director of Student Development at Bridgemont High School in San Francisco, CA. Two years later, I took the Guidance Director position at Hilton Head Christian Academy in Hilton Head, SC. I continued in this role until I took the Director of College and Career Counseling position at DC in 2010. I married Karissa in 2002 and we have three children (Corinne,, Zachary, and Miriam). I enjoy sports (particularly baseball, basketball and football) and have coached high school baseball both as the head varsity baseball coach at Hilton Head Christian Academy and Assistant Coach here at DC.

I have always had a desire to work with kids. This started in high school when I became a counselor at camp for the summer. I soon realized that I enjoyed working more with teens. I became the head boys counselor at camp my freshman and sophomore years of college mentoring the boys counselors for the summer. When I started working at Bridgemont High School in San Francisco at the age of 21 I immediately realized that I had a gift to mentor and counsel teens, particularly those in high school. My Dad, Mom and brother are all teachers and administrators in middle and high schools so you can say it runs in the family.

Becoming a college counselor is really God working and none of my doing. It is a learned profession and one in which you have to be a continual learner. I am amazed at how God has directed me toward opportunities that I have been able to use my gifts and passions. I enjoy working with teens, I enjoy research and keeping up with new and the latest information and trends. I am an effective communicator and enjoy planning events and new ways be more effective. I love sports and have been able to have success coaching baseball and basketball. I cannot imagine another field and position to be in where I am using the gifts and talents God has given me to enjoy and be successful.
