Mrs. Karen Good
I was blessed to join the DC family as a parent ten years ago. My family was welcomed to DC when my oldest daughter was in 6th grade and my youngest in 2nd. Teachers, coaches and staff willingly and selflessly poured into my family and partnered with me and my husband on behalf of my two girls. In 2008, when I was asked to join the faculty as a Kindergarten teacher, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to serve the Lord and give back a small piece of what had been so joyfully given to me.
I am graduate of the University of Delaware where I studied early childhood education. Prior to returning to teaching, I directed a child care referral agency in Delaware and Virginia and served with my husband as Children's Ministry Coordinator at our local church.
I teach Kindergarten because each and every day is exciting and different. There is nothing more fun than exploring God's creation with an eager group of 5 and 6 year olds. They remind me to slow down, see the wonder in the moment, and to enjoy the journey.
One of my favorite books is a children's book called If Jesus Came to Visit Me by Jill Roman Lord. It reminds me to explore what I might do if Jesus came to visit – just for a day. What questions might I ask? Where would we go? What would I most want to show Him? More importantly, how would I act? It's a story that I read to my class every year. My favorite quote from the book... And why did God make ostriches, with wings that cannot fly? When you were up there on the cross, I wonder..., did you cry?
My family lives in Wilmington, Delaware where we enjoy many swimming and softball activities. We also love the beach! I frequently can be found searching for sea glass along the water's edge for it is on the beach that I stand the most awe struck by the bigness of our great God.
