Mrs. Christine Allen
I am a New England native and forever fan of the Patriots & Red Sox. I moved to the area to attend Eastern University. Back then, I was sure God was calling me to full-time missions, so I minored in Missions, Anthropology and Spanish. I interned in my church's youth ministry department because I loved students and sharing the Gospel. I wasn't as sure about my major. I changed it three times before fulfilling my high school math teacher's relentless prophecy. My mom always says that teaching chose me long before I agreed to do it.
My husband and I were great friends for most of our college years before we started dating. I was privileged to stay at home with our 3 awesome boys before they started school. During those 10 years, I worked part-time for a missions organization, providing training for teams in the US and overseas. In 2011, God orchestrated the circumstances that brought us all to DC.
I chose to teach math because I always liked it in high school. It seemed to come easy to me, and I informally tutored all of my friends. I enjoy teaching Algebra I in particular because it lays the foundation for all future coursework in Math. I especially love helping students to master something that they once thought was impossible.
My favorite activities include traveling, hiking, going to museums, learning about personalities and cultures...anything that allows me to explore the wonder and beauty of God's creation in it's various forms.
