Mr. Greg Hobaugh
I was born and raised in Pennsylvania, and love this swath of America. I was privileged to be reared in a Christian home, where I learned of the Bible from an early age. Through the years, I amassed more and more Bible knowledge, but it was not until college that I grasped the concept that Jesus was the Lord and Savior of all of my life. I remain desperate for Jesus.
I am an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). I graduated from Cedarville University (Major in Political Science, Minors in Bible and English), and Westminster Theological Seminary in nearby Philadelphia (Master of Divinity, Master of Theology in Apologetics, PhD candidate in Church History).
My varied employments (corporate America, landscape specialist, golf caddie, steel worker, church staff member) and teaching positions (American Literature at a college in China, Westminster Theological Seminary, preaching and teaching at church, and now at DC) have aided in connecting with those whom I teach.
I enjoy traveling to historic places, reading good novels and eating good food of all types: I have a special fondness for good coffee, Turkey Hill ice cream and cooking in my backyard smoker. When I have extra time, I can always be talked into a pickup game of softball, disc golf or Ultimate Frisbee. My other interest is in modern board games such as Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride, Dominion and Settlers of Catan (among many others). I taught a J-Term class at DC on the Theology of Board Games. Ask me about it sometime…
While it is impossible to convey all my favorite books, here is a list of some of the most influential after the Bible (in no particular order):
The Complete Works of Francis Schaeffer
Martin Luther: Selections from His Writings, edited by John Dillenberger
The various writings of Jonathan Edwards
Knowing God, J. I. Packer
All the King's Men, William Penn Warren
The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings, J. R. R. Tolkien
The Chronicles of Narnia, C. S. Lewis (honestly, anything else by Lewis)
