I was born and raised in the Philadelphia area, and blessed with parents who had a strong commitment to the Lord. The memory I have of trusting Christ as my Savior at a young age, with my father by my side, is precious to me.

My husband and I met at Messiah College, where I received a degree in Elementary Education. Shortly after graduation, we moved to an Indian reservation in northern California where I was a nursery school teacher, serving under the Mennonite Central Committee. Living in a culture so different from our own, the Lord taught us many things. Our next move was to Southern California where I taught in the public school system for two years. Upon returning to Pennsylvania, I applied at DC for a teaching position. Having attended DC K-12th grade, my roots at the school are deep. Recognizing the value of a Christian education, my husband I chose to send our two sons to DC. By God's grace, I was hired to teach in the Discovery Center, a program for students with learning differences, where I received certification as a learning disabilities specialist. I am currently doing individual and small group reading intervention.

I have many favorite books but my most recent favorite is Unbroken, by Laura Hillenbrand. It is a story of redemption and grace in a most unlikely situation, a picture of what Christ has done for me.

I greatly enjoy involvement in my church, which has included a ministry to parents of post-high school age children, serving on the missions committee and teaching in the children's ministries. I also enjoy inviting people into our home, traveling, reading, being outdoors and power walking.
