I grew up in a Christian home, and attended public school from K-12. Upon graduating high school I attended Messiah College where I majored in Spanish and was a member of the Women’s Track and Field team. During college I had the opportunity to study overseas for a semester in Viña del Mar, Chile and did an intensive course in Salamanca, Spain. I love traveling, learning new languages, playing sports, and spending time with my 8 awesome nieces and nephews!

There are a few defining moments in my journey into the teaching profession. After my junior year of college, I had the opportunity to intern with a ministry in Santiago, Chile. During my time there I had the opportunity to assist an English teacher at an elementary school and teach adult education classes in the evening. I loved the interactions with my students and creating lessons to help them with their English. Over the next two years, I volunteered with refugees and immigrants in the Central Pennsylvania region teaching ESL. Those experiences were extremely life giving to me, and confirmed my calling to go into teaching!

Some of my earliest memories are of me sitting in my bedroom creating and making up new languages. I read missionary biographies, read atlases for fun, and would check books out of the library in random languages. To me, languages and cultures are the most beautiful and profound way that I see Christ at work in the world. I choose to teach Spanish because I want to introduce students to another language and show them the incredible value that being a bilingual, global citizen has in our world today.
