Parent Volunteer Organization (PVO)

PVO imageDC's PVO seeks to provide a coordinated effort to meet the volunteer needs within the school.

Opportunities to Serve

Each Spring, parents complete the PVO Annual Survey for each division in which they have children enrolled as part of the enrollment or re-enrollment process. The survey outlines all parent volunteer opportunities for the upcoming school year. These opportunities vary in the level of time and/or activity commitments, providing opportunities for all.

The survey results are sent to the PVO leadership team and parents are contacted regarding these service opportunities.

As you prayerfully select volunteer opportunities for next year, we encourage you to consider how God has uniquely created you. Please examine your abilities, experiences, personality and your passions! You are a valuable and necessary part of Christ’s body at DC and YOU ARE NEEDED!

What about background checks?

DC requires background checks for volunteers. Volunteers who plan to serve on a regular basis, along with any parent chaperone that plans to go on an off-campus field trip, must have this clearance completed. Parents or other volunteers should initiate this process on their own.

Beginning in July of 2015, the Act 153 Child Protective Services Law requires that 3 clearances are needed for volunteers. In the past, parents participating in school activities such as field trips, sporting events, and classroom activities have needed to obtain only a Criminal History Check. This new law requires volunteers to obtain 3 clearances on a 36 month basis. Please visit the following websites and follow the directions to obtain your clearances:

  1. Federal Criminal History Record ($28.75)
    http://www.pa.cogentid.com/index.htm - Fingerprints
If you have lived in Pennsylvania for the past 10 years you do not need to be fingerprinted (Federal Criminal History Record), but you will need to fill out the attached waiver form and return it with your other two clearances to the business office.

  2. PA Criminal Background check (free)
https://epatch.state.pa.us/Home.jsp - PA Criminal Background Check

  3. Child Abuse clearance (free)
    https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home - Child Abuse Clearance

Once you have obtained copies of your background clearances please provide a copy to Laura Penley in the Business Office. In the event you have already obtained your clearances from your place of employment or your local church, simply provide a copy to Laura Penley. Feel free to email lpenley@dccs.org, fax 610-353-6421, or personally deliver the clearances to the business office.

A parent, college student, or visitor on campus for a brief, occasional visit does not require this background check. Please contact Laura Penley in the Business Office at 610-353-6522 x2203 or lpenley@dccs.org for questions about this procedure or to check on your  status currently on file.

Background clearances must be submitted to the Business Office prior to the date of your volunteer event.
