Head of School Welcome

Head of School, Dan Steinfield

Welcome to Delaware County Christian School! Through 70 years of exceptional Christ-centered education, God has faithfully worked at DC to educate students who will serve God and impact the world through biblical thought and action. We believe Colossians 1, that all things are held together in and through Jesus Christ. The American poet Robert Frost has been quoted as saying, “I am not a teacher, I am an awakener.” It is these moments of Divine Encounters in our classrooms, in the arts, and on the athletic fields which differentiate a DC education.

Our students are poised to engage a dynamic and fast-changing world through a commitment to excellence in a Christ-centered liberal arts education. Firmly rooted in Christian community, DC seeks to partner with families to see students cultivate their God-given gifts and talents, to become passionate, lifelong learners prepared to impact the world for Jesus Christ.

DC has a rich heritage of building rigorous, innovative programs in academics, the arts and athletics. Dr. Roy Lowrie, DC’s first head of school, wrote, “The Delaware County Christian School did not begin as an experiment, but as a deep conviction. Today the campus with its subsequent buildings is a multimillion-dollar property. However, DC has never been an investment in real estate, but an investment in the lives of children and young people and their parents. It remains a school for God.”

DC is a vibrant community which stands on the firm foundation of God’s faithfulness to generations past. Even greater, DC is a community which stands ready to excel today and shape tomorrow. We embrace the future and are committed to a bold vision of magnificence as we plan innovative new strides to ensure our students are prepared to thrive for Kingdom impact.

I encourage you to come for a visit, arrange a tour, and witness all the exciting things happening on campus and within the lives of our students. WE BELIEVE a DC education will influence the course of your child's entire life. I invite you to Discover DC today.

Soli Deo Gloria,

Head of School Dan Steinfield on leadership, the value of Christian education, and the future of Delaware County Christian School.

Why do you value Christian education?

Head of School, Dan Steinfield

Christian education provides a holistic approach to learning that leads to a true understanding of who we are in relation to the Creator. When education is rooted in Christ, a biblical worldview pervades every aspect of the school community. Within the framework of Christian education, students learn to understand and apply their God-given gifts and talents in all aspects of learning, all to the glory of God. Finally, Christian schools are lifelong learning communities where deep, critical thinking is modeled. Students and teachers seek to be lifelong learners, willing to take risks, experiment with new ideas and techniques, and prepares them to impact the world through biblical thought and action.

What do you enjoy most about being a Head of School?

Head of School, Dan Steinfield
President Truman once said, “It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.” Leadership at its core is organizing, inspiring, and driving a group of people to achieve results beyond their expectations. As I have served in Head of School leadership roles, I have come to realize that my passion lies in serving others so they discover and grow their talents, gifts, and their faith. I thrive on creating opportunities for spiritual development for both young and old. I enjoy finding “platforms” for people to discover, use, and grow their talents and spiritual giftedness. As a visionary, servant leader who thrives on innovation, I enjoy cultivating teams to enhance academic and co-curricular excellence and better equip students to impact the world for Christ. A team builder, I seek to empower those I serve with to do their best in their particular area. At its simplest form, my favorite part of Head of School is serving others.

Given the rapidly changing landscape of education, how do you envision the future of Delaware County Christian School?

Head of School, Dan Steinfield
In the coming years, I envision DC as a flourishing school - centered on its mission, firmly rooted in Christ, and pursuing soli deo gloria. This will be accomplished first and foremost by God’s blessing and leading of DC as we humbly walk in Him. This will also be accomplished with a core belief in the significant role of innovation in Christian education. For DC to thrive in today’s culture and in the years to come, we must foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and risk taking. This culture, marked by contributions from an empowered faculty and staff to lead innovative ideas and/or projects is the embodiment of a flourishing school. I am eager to see how God will work in and through us in the years ahead as we work together strategically enabled by God’s grace and His continued blessing on our endeavors.
