EXCEL After School Clubs
The elementary years are foundational for students to explore emerging interests and discover what they enjoy and where they excel. Co-curricular activities are designed to provide exposure to a wide variety of topics, providing fun and educational experiences as an extension of the school day. Most activities occur after school, and are taught by DC faculty members who desire to share their passion for learning beyond the classroom. Clubs are offered for a nominal fee each fall, winter and spring and include topics, such as:
- Archery
- Bookmaking and Sketching
- Chess
- Climbing
- Field Hockey
- Junior Naturalist
- Knitting
- Maps-R-Us
- Robotics
- Wilderness Survival
- and more!
We encourage all students to be active in our co-curricular activities and other enrichment opportunities throughout the year! Registration information is sent through the Lower Campus News and Notes.
Knights Sports Academy
The Knights Sports Academy is dedicated to equipping lower school students with the skills and character necessary to be successful in athletics. We engage young athletes in sport(s) at an early age to foster the development of their natural gifts. While healthy competition is a part of sports, we also desire for young athletes to have fun with their friends, become more physically fit and honor God.
Knights Sports Academy partners with DC Summer Programs to provide a variety of sport camps for grades 2-5 throughout the summer. Visit the Knights Sports Academy section of DC Summer Programs to learn more.
League Affiliations
Basketball:
DC Lower School students typically have opportunities to play basketball in the Jr. Knights Program (K-5) and in some cases for a grade specific DC team competing in nearby fall and spring leagues. As students’ progress and enter Middle School, there are a few nearby AAU organizations that offer opportunities for DC players to try out and work to improve as players. Interested boys and girls should feel free to reach out to the DC Athletic Department for additional information.
Soccer:
The Liverpool FC soccer club exists to develop players who will eventually play for and contribute to the DC middle school and upper school programs. We do this in a setting that emphasizes Christian character and seeks to honor the Lord in all things. In the fall, our travel teams compete in the Central League, Delco League, and the Philadelphia Area Girls League. In addition, we compete in various tournaments, enter winter futsal leagues, and run training and camps throughout the year.
