Standardized Testing Accommodations

To access testing accommodations on standardized tests, the following are required:

  • A Psychoeducational or Medical Evaluation documenting your diagnosis.
  • An official Accommodation Plan that is in active use at DC.

ACT Exams

This organization requires you to request accommodations EACH TIME you register for an exam. You need to submit the ACT Parent Consent Form to the Academic & College Counseling Office ONLY ONCE. This grants permission for the school to release the student’s Evaluation documents and Accommodation Plan to ACT, Inc. if requested.

To REGISTER FOR A TEST using accommodations:

  1. Create or login to your MyACT account.
  2. Link your account to DC before you register. If you skip this step, DC will not be contacted to verify your requested accommodations.
  3. Select “Yes” when asked if you need accommodations. A “No” cannot be changed after the registration is complete.
  4. Wait for approval, which can take up to three weeks. Denials can be appealed only if the request is submitted before the late registration deadline.

College Board Exams

(PSAT, SAT and AP)

This organization requires a ONE TIME application for accommodations. Following approval, all future tests will automatically be administered with accommodations.

To APPLY FOR ACCOMMODATIONS:

  1. Submit the College Board Parent Consent Form to the Academic & College Counseling Office. This grants permission for the school to release the student’s Evaluation documents and Accommodation Plan to the College Board if requested.

  2. Wait for approval, which can take up to six weeks. Denials can be appealed only if the request is submitted before the late registration deadline.

To REMOVE ACCOMMODATIONS that you no longer wish to use, submit the College Board Accommodations Change or Waiver Form.
