In a season full of adversities, the Knights find a way to reach the PIAA District 1AA District Finals.
Overall Record: 12-14
League Record: 7-7
Post-Season Record 2-2
Key Victories: Eden Christian Academy, The City School, Calvary Christian (BAL Tourney) Bristol (District Semi-Finals)
Despite losing two key starters from last year's district finals team, the Knights boys basketball team came into the season with optimism and excitement. This year’s roster, filled with both senior leadership and youthful exuberance, started the season strong by winning its first three games including a 54-43 win over Eden Christan Academy to win the 56th Annual DC Tip-Off Tournament. However, those first three victories were followed by three tough losses heading into the Christmas break, initiating a roller-coaster ride of alternating wins and losses that continued throughout the season. Injuries and sickness took its toll on the team, with top scorers Josh Parks and Lincoln Palmer missing time due to ankle injuries and joining several players on the team having to quarantine during the season due to COVID-19 infections. Despite the challenges, the Knights won enough games to finish as a 7th seed for the BAL tournament and also finished third in the PIAA District 1AA standings, qualifying for the playoffs.
The BAL tournament kicked off in an exciting way for the Knights, who defeated Calvary Christian Academy 50-35 and advanced to the second round of the tournament. Josh Parks, who scored 27 points for the Knights in the game, also achieved a significant milestone in scoring his 1000th career point during the victory. The Knights lost their second round game against powerhouse Collegium Charter, 86-31.
The District 1AA tournament opened with an away contest against rival and defending district champion Bristol, who had beaten the Knights during the regular season. In a game that can only be described as epic, the Knights won on a three point buzzer beater by Josh Parks and defeated Bristol 51-50. The victory earned DC another trip to the district title game, its 6th appearance in 8 years. The title game was disappointing, as the Knights fell to top seeded Church Farm in the championship, ending its season on a low note, yet optimistic about the future of the program.
