DC Cheer attend the UCA Camp

DC Cheer attend the UCA Camp
Cheerleading squad

DC Cheerleaders attended the UCA (Universal Cheerleaders Association) Delco Commuter Camp this past August at Springfield High School. They trained alongside many well-known cheerleading programs in Delaware County including Springfield High School, Upper Darby, Haverford, Cardinal O’Hara, and many more. The girls were pushed to their limits each day as they learned new cheers, dances, stunts, and jumps. During the last day of camp, family and friends were invited to come watch a showcase where the DC Knights Cheerleaders performed their routine.

UCA allows each competing school to try out ten cheerleaders for a special recognition award called “All American.” Cheerleaders try out in front of the entire camp and are judged on three skills: personal jump, cheer, and dance. This is a very prestigious award and is not given out lightly. DC had five cheerleaders tryout for All American and  we are proud to congratulate Alexa Cardone (freshman) and Josie Lisanti (7th grade) on receiving the UCA All American Title.

UCA also gives out an award called Pin-it-Forward. Each UCA coach picks out one cheerleader from camp who displays exemplary character and gives them a special pin. There were hundreds of cheerleaders attending camp and only twenty girls received a pin including Alexa Cardone.

These accomplishments are just the start for the DC Cheerleaders as they enter into the fourth year of rebuilding the cheerleading program. Be on the look out for DC Cheerleaders around campus as they cheer on DC sports teams and compete this winter! If you know an Upper School or Middle School student interested in joining the DC Cheerleading squad, please contact Coach Tara Eisenhart at tara@theeisenharts.com.

The 3rd annual Knights Sports Academy Cheerleading Clinic will be held during Homecoming on Saturday, October 15th, 2022. This is a great opportunity for young girls grades K-5th grade to attend a 2-hour clinic to learn all about cheerleading and learn a routine to perform during halftime at the Varsity football game later that day. If you are interested in signing up your student, please email Coach Tara Eisenhart at tara@theeisenharts.com.

The DC Cheerleading Program is coached by: Varsity Head Coach: Tara (Phillips) Eisenhart ‘06, Varsity Assistant Coach: Catherine (Barbee) Power ‘07, MS Head Coach: Angela (Kolowitz) Payson ‘00, and MS Assistant Coach: Devon (Wehmeyer) Rainey, a member of the class of 2010.
