Strong Start for Girls Cross Country

Strong Start for Girls Cross Country

After just two weeks of their season, the Girls Cross Country team is off and running “fast.” With the leadership of three seniors and 3 upcoming sophomores, the Lady Knights have been dominant in smaller meets and extremely competitive in the larger meets.

The girls began their season by winning the Cairn University Highlander Invitational. Senior Liza Lee and sophomore Gabbi Watson went 1-2 to cap a team win. In a 7 team meet at Interboro, the girls placed second behind Marple Newtown while defeating 5 other teams. Ella Hines and Liza Lee placed 3rd and 4th behind two Marple girls to cap the win. Last Saturday morning the team competed in the Unionville “Bash” that included 36 teams from the Tri-State area. Ella Hines finished with an impressive 19th place and a medal. She was followed by Bethany Jacox, Lisa Lee, Gabbi Watson, Mary Schaefer and Chloe Bryant.

Later this season, the team will travel to Hershey to compete in the PIAA Foundation meet to test their skills with some of the best in Pennsylvania on the state cross country course. The team is hoping to compete well at the league, and at district meets in late October.
