Tennis Team Captures District Title
Tennis Champions 2020

It’s been a remarkable season for DC’s Varsity Girls Tennis Team.

The team went 8-0 in regular season Bicentennial Athletic League matches and beat Lower Moreland to capture this year’s PIAA District 1-A Championship. With their district title secured, the girls advanced to the PIAA State Team Tournament for the first time in the program’s history. Despite a very strong showing, tennis powerhouse Moravian Academy brought a close to our team’s outstanding season.

Junior Brette Foutch is DC’s top singles player. Senior Caroline Van Dixhoorn holds the number two spot and partners with Brette in doubles play. These teammates faced off in the BAL Singles Tournament with Brette capturing first place.

Unfortunately, this year’s district singles and doubles tournament were scheduled simultaneously due to COVID-19 related calendar changes. Brette and Caroline opted to pursue competition in doubles, which proved to be a good choice with the girls capturing the District 1-AA Doubles Championship. Their path to the title included a defeat of the wildcard qualifiers - fellow DC teammates Ashley Van Dixhoorn and Sarah Stahl.

Brette and Caroline advanced to the State Tournament Quarterfinals against Conrad Weiser High School (Robesonia, PA) on March 4. Despite winning the first set in a 7-2 tie break, Conrad Weiser prevailed winning the second and third sets 5-7 and 3-6.

Congratulations to Head Coach Connor Power and the team on an outstanding season!
