Athletics Week in Review - October 12, 2019
Week in Review October 12, 2019

Welcome to this week’s edition of the DC Rewind <<, where you will receive updates on DC’s Athletic events for the 2019/20 school year. Here are your updates from DC athletic events for the week ending 10/12/2019.

Varsity Football (3-2)

The Knights capped off homecoming festivities with their contest against Mercersburg Academy on October 12th at Valley Forge field. In a well-attended game that featured tons of scoring and many highlights, the Knights led from start to finish and defeated Mercersburg Academy 50-28. The most memorable play of the day was a one-handed catch by Jordan Mitchell that was as impressive as any you would see on ESPN SportsCenter. With the win, the Knights have a shot at securing a home playoff game if they can get a win against Perkiomen School and get some help from VFMA in their contest against Mercersburg.
Results this past week: Win (50-28) vs Mercersburg Academy on 10/12.

Upcoming Events: 10/19/19 vs Perkiomen School @ 1:00p; KSFL Playoffs - Semis vs TBD on 10/25/19 or 10/26/19.

Varsity Girls Tennis (8-1)

The DC Girls Tennis squad finished their season with a 8-1 record and a berth in the PIAA D1AA playoffs held on October 7th. Despite the losing in that event, the team had a phenomenal season and with a relatively young squad, expectations are high going into next season.
Brett Foutch and Sarah Stahl secured a spot in the PIAA D1 Doubles Tournament by making the finals of BALs on October 5th. The PIAA District Doubles Tournament will start on Friday, October 18th.

Upcoming Events: PIAA District Doubles on 10/18/19.

Varsity Boys Soccer (8-7)

The Knights are playing very well right now, winning four of their last five games. On Saturday, the Knights earned a hard fought victory against D1 2A top seed New Hope, defeating the Lions 3-1 in front of a raucous home crowd. The victory further solidified DCs position as the D1 1A 4th seed, giving our Knights an inside track in securing a home game for the first round of districts on October 22nd.
Results this past week: Loss (1-0) vs Church Farm School on 10/8/19; Win (1-0) vs Plumstead Christian on 10/10/19; Win (3-1) vs New Hope on 10/12/19.

Upcoming Events: 10/15/19 @ Dock - 3:45p; 10/17/19 vs Valley Forge - 3:45p; 10/18/19 vs Central Bucks East 3:30p.

Varsity Girls Soccer (4-12)

The Lady Knights have had a tough season battling through key injuries at the most challenging points of their schedule. The team’s current record does not reflect their toughness, character and the fight they have shown in every game. The season will conclude this week with games against TCA and Faith.

Results this past week: Loss (1-0) vs Faith Christian 10/7; Loss (2-1) vs New Hope on 10/10; Loss (2-0) vs Episcopal Academy on 10/11..

Upcoming Events: 10/15/19 @ TCA - 4:00p; 10/17/19 vs Faith Christian - 3:45p.

Varsity Girls Field Hockey (4-10-3)

Despite their record, the Knights still sit in the 8th and final D1 1A playoff spot, mere tenths of points ahead of Villa Joseph Marie School. DC has one game remaining against Dock, while Villa Joseph Marie has two listed on their schedule for this week. The results of those games will determine who gets into the playoffs, which begin on October 22nd. Let’s Go Knights!
Results this past week: Loss (2-1) @ Bristol on 10/8; Loss (5-0) vs Lower Moreland on 10/10; Loss (2-0) vs Harriton on 10/11.

Upcoming Events: 10/15/19 @ Dock - 3:45p.

DC Cross Country

The DC Cross Country teams ran at Lower Moreland on October 9th as a “tuneup” for BAL Championships  and Districts. The race distance was a 4-K rather than a 5-K. For the boys, Jude Metricarti crossed the line first for DC and was followed by Sam Bushra, Jason Zhao, Michael Rhine and Bobby Zhu. For the girls, Bethany Jacox was first for DC followed by Doris Hou and Zoe Yu. No team scores were kept.
BAL Championships will start this Wednesday, October 16th at Tyler State Park.
