A great essay is an important part of your college application. It is a chance to accurately present yourself to an admissions staff. In this course, students will learn how to write their college essays from start to finish. We will focus in on brainstorming, selecting a topic, writing the essay and proofreading. Guest lecturers from competitive admission colleges in the Philadelphia area who are experienced at writing and reading college essays will bring valuable perspectives. At the conclusion of the course, each student will have at least 3-4 essays ready to be submitted with their college applications.

Trevor CreedenTrevor Creeden is the Director of College and Career Counseling at Delaware County Christian School and has a passion to work with high school students and guide them and their parents through the college planning and application process. Trevor started his college counseling career in 2001 as the Director of Student Development at Bridgemont High School in San Francisco, CA. He then moved to South Carolina in 2003 to be the Guidance Director at Hilton Head Christian Academy in Hilton Head, SC. He was there until 2010 when he moved to Philadelphia, PA to be the Director of College and Career Counseling at Delaware County Christian School (DC) in Newtown Square, PA and where he continues the role today. Being a college counselor in the West, South and now Northeast has allowed Trevor to visit, gain knowledge and be very familiar with many colleges all over the country. He loves sports and has an interest in government. Trevor looks forward to working with you in his 5th summer teaching the College Essay Academy!

The Advanced Art experience provides campers with individual instruction and a focus on their area of interest. This is also an opportunity to collaborate with other artists and begin to build an area of expertise.
