Alumni Spotlight
Daniel Correia '97

If you were wondering if DC makes a difference in the lives of students, here is another example of one life impacted.

"I was asked to share with the DC community a little bit about who I am and how God brought me to the place I am right now. I have thought quite hard about all the little things in my life that I could share and have decided to start with who I was before God's love penetrated my life and end with my return to DC."

By now you have hopefully heard our exciting news about the move to a new elementary campus in Devon. Settlement for the new campus is scheduled for June 8th. We are continuing to work out the details of the agreements between Stratford Friends (the school purchasing our elementary school) and Episcopal Academy (owners of our new school). There are many components for each settlement. Please pray for the final resolution of all the details.

Mark your calendars for Homecoming 2009 - October 17th. We're looking to add new events to the day for our 60th Anniversary. Stay connected....

Alumnus of the Year 2008-09
Susan Reitsma 1970

How does one measure achievement? Is the building of a major cathedral of greater importance than the building of one child's life? Is rescuing an endangered species as significant as rescuing a teenager from a life of hopelessness? If you believe that lives are more important than things, then you will know why we have selected the person we have as our Alumnus of the Year 2008.

Click here to read the entire Alumnus of the Year article. The award recognition for Alumnus of the Year will take place at DC's Commencement on June 5, 2009.

David Horton began Indy Photo Coach in 2008 to meet what he perceived to be a need in the market. Many consumers are now purchasing high-end digital camera equipment but only use that equipment in the automatic setting due to a learning curve gap, he told the judges.

"We are a unique photography school that's been in business for over a year," Horton said.
A former biology major at Taylor and a pharmaceutical salesman by day, Horton said he's been developing his business slowly for the past year, using instructors on a contract basis to offer basic and advanced photography lessons in individual and small-scale classes, all set in an outdoor, subject-rich atmosphere.
"The difference (from the competition) is a small class size and unique environment," he said.
After learning of his victory, Horton said he plans to use the seed money to help grow the business. He plans to hire his instructors as full-time employees and to look to expand outside of the Indianapolis market, possibly in Columbus or Cincinnati.
"By the end of the year, we hope to be advancing to another location," he said.
