2020 Fall Athletic News
DC Athletics Logo

In response to the August 6 recommendation from Governor Wolf to delay the start of school sports until 2021, the PIAA will be making a final decision on the fall season after their August 21 board meeting. This delay pushes back the start date for Upper School sports until Monday, August 24 at the earliest. The start of Middle School sports, currently scheduled for Tuesday, September 8, is not impacted at this time.

OFF-SEASON WORKOUTS

In the interim, Upper School athletes can continue to participate in off-season workouts for those sports with scheduled workout times. Off-season workouts are voluntary and open to any student interested in playing sports this year. Sports with active workout sessions include the following:

  • Boys and Girls Soccer
  • Field Hockey
  • Cross Country
  • Football
  • Boys and Girls Basketball

Cheerleading, Golf and Tennis have not held off-season workout sessions to date.

Students interested in participating in fall sports should reach out to the team’s head coach to express their interest. Contact information for our fall coaches can be found in our Coach Directory

FALL SPORTS PREPARATION

Once preseason officially starts, each participating athlete must have an up-to-date PIAA Sports Physical and must also have a signed Sports Participation Waiver (COVID-19) on file with the Athletic Office. The sports physical must have been completed after June 1, 2020 to be deemed valid and the doctor must have filled out Section 6 of the PIAA form before you hand it into the Athletic Office. Both the PIAA form and the Sports Participation Waiver can be found on the Document Library page of the DC Athletic website.

Please feel free to reach out to the Athletic Office if you have any questions at 610-353-6522 x2422.
