A Roaring New Year: Year of the Tiger
Lunar New Year

The Lunar New Year is a special celebration of family and new beginnings. The DC International Program sought ways to share in the traditions, food, and community of our 25 international students who have been away from home amid the global pandemic.

The celebration started with a Lunar New Year Chapel where Mandarin IV Students, Chloe Walker and Sahdayha Addy, prayed in both Mandarin and English. International Prefect, Alma Wang, presented a video message from our international parents giving the DC community a glimpse of our international students' homes and families.

Campus wide, students, faculty, and staff wore Year of the Tiger t-shirts designed by Senior Hailey Wichard, to commemorate the occasion. Faculty and staff wrote letters of blessings that were presented to our international students in DC’s version of red envelopes (hong bao). As food plays a major part of this celebration, our international students gathered together for a special catered lunch and bubble tea!

DC is grateful to our international students and their families for providing us with the opportunity to participate and grow through these intercultural experiences.
