Pennsylvania Tax Credit Programs

Through participation in the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) programs, businesses and individuals with significant tax liability can earn PA tax credits when they contribute to a scholarship organization like Delaware County Christian School.

What is EITC/OSTC?

EITC and OSTC are donor-friendly ways to support DC’s tuition assistance program, which ensures our student body is talented and diverse while keeping tuition reasonable and affordable, all in our mission to educate students who will serve God and impact the world through biblical thought and action. Pennsylvania’s EITC/OSTC program enables individuals and corporations to reduce their tax liability by up to 90% while supporting the tuition assistance program at the private school of their choice.

As we’ve grown in our walk with the Lord, He’s brought us many chances to give, as I’m sure He has for others. However, few of them have been as unique as the EITC program. God’s word tells us to "give to Caesar what is Caesar’s," and so we pay our taxes with obedience, though not always with joy. With EITC, "Caesar" gives us freedom to redirect our tax payment from our PA state tax bill to DC so that they can provide scholarships directly to the scholarship fund for those who qualify, within the state scholarship parameters. At first, this seemed too good to be true, and it took some research on my part to trust the process. But as someone who’s participated, I can tell you whether it’s from personal tax liability or business tax liability, so long as it’s in Pennsylvania, you can redirect 90% of your PA state tax liability directly to DC and the other 10% is deductible as any other gift would be.

It sounds too good to be true! Instead of giving our state income tax dollars to Pennsylvania, they can be allocated instead to DC (with a very minimal out-of-pocket “cost”). This EITC money provides scholarships for students that could not otherwise attend DC, helps to create a gloriously diverse community of students that more closely mirrors the Kingdom of God, and frees up funds in DC’s budget for other areas of impact (faculty enrichment, facility improvements, etc). We consider this a win, win, win! The EITC program is an under-utilized treasure and should be oversubscribed at DC so we are happy to help spread the word. Let’s do this together!

Hussar Family

When we first heard about the EITC program and the opportunity it provides for so many families to afford Christian education at DC, we were thrilled to be able to participate. One of the school's greatest assets is the families in community with one another and we are glad to support any program that would lower the hurdle for a family looking to enroll their children at DC. The process was incredibly straightforward. We filled out a one-page form early in the year to enroll in the program. A few emails later and a mailed check at year-end, and we had done our part.

We are grateful to the DC community for welcoming our family and specifically our son, Mason. We are delighted to be part of this great institution! As part of our commitment to DC, we support the EITC program so that other families may utilize all of what the DC community has to offer. We very much encourage everyone to consider paying it forward, by utilizing the EITC program so that many more families may be part of the DC family.

Donating through the EITC program has been so easy for our family. It was an easy decision to participate and equally easy to enroll.  It is very satisfying to have our tax dollars support DC through EITC as we are so passionate about DC; an institution that has blessed our children with a great education through the work of amazing teachers who carry out the mission of DC every single day. As we think ahead to our son Trevor's graduation this year, we are fondly reminded of what a wonderful journey that we have had at DC since 2008 when our older son Brendan enrolled in first grade. It will be our joy to continue to participate in the EITC program even after his graduation.
