PVO (Parent Volunteer Organization)

volunteers arrange flowers for homecoming

DC's Parent Volunteer Organization (PVO) provides a coordinated program for the parents to partner and serve school faculty, staff, and students. The PVO advances the mission of the school by encouraging faculty, staff, and administration in their efforts to impact each student. Through service and events PVO organizes and supports activities to foster communication and fellowship between members of our school community.

All DC parents are encouraged to participate in the PVO. Each academic division offers parents a variety of ways to participate and be involved.

Lower Campus PVO - provides a program for parents to partner with and serve DC's lower campus teachers and staff. Service opportunities include homeroom parents, teacher and staff appreciation, fall festival, art show, lost and found, and many others.

Upper Campus PVO - provides a program for parents to partner with and serve DC's upper campus teachers and staff. Service opportunities at the Upper Campus include health screenings, lost and found, school portraits, Ushop, teacher and staff appreciation, and others.

I began volunteering with the PVO as a new DC parent, and it was a perfect way to quickly get plugged in and connected with the school community.  I met many other parents, got to know teachers and staff, and formed some wonderful, lasting friendships serving alongside other DC parents.

DC Friends of the Arts supports students and faculty in all areas of the creative arts because we believe that creativity is to be celebrated and nurtured in every student, to the glory of God.

Friends of the Arts will accomplish this mission through annual fundraising, volunteering, promoting awareness, and advocating efforts.

The FOTA committee is open to interested individuals. The committee is made up of passionate individuals who bring prayerful hearts and widely varying gifting to support a hugely successful arts program.

Serving with FOTA has allowed me to meet other parents while serving a smaller community of faculty and students within the school. I remember fondly the first meal I served for the students and faculty.  They were all so appreciative. It was fun to learn a little about the students who were hanging out with my child.

Athletic Boosters

Believing that Christ-centered school sports can positively influence a student athlete’s character, the DC Athletic Boosters exists to support the Athletic Department by promoting and encouraging our athletes to honor God, develop character, and pursue excellence.

Athletic Boosters leadership is made up of four cabinet members (President, Treasurer, Director of Concessions, and Director for Athletic Events) and one representative for each team. Meeting monthly, this leadership team purchases supplies, ensures structures are in place for volunteers to easily step in and serve, and makes decisions on the disbursement of funds based on the Athletic Department’s recommendations. Team representatives work closely with the head coach on needs for the program, coordinate concession workers for games, and assist in the end of the season banquet.

Special events that Boosters support include Homecoming, DC Scarecrow 5K, Annual Tip-Off Basketball Tournament, and sports recognition nights.

Helping with school boosters connects me with our DC community while supporting our student-athletes. It's a fulfilling way to give back and live out the path the Lord has laid out. "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms" (1 Peter 4:10).

Background Checks

DC requires background checks for volunteers. Volunteers who plan to serve on a regular basis, along with any parent chaperone that plans to go on an off-campus field trip, must have this clearance completed. Parents or other volunteers should initiate this process on their own.
