May 24, 2019 (Newtown Square, PA) - Stephen Poyser has been named the new Girls Varsity Head Basketball Coach at Delaware County Christian School. Stephen’s basketball resume includes playing at North Penn High School where he graduated in 2001 and at Messiah College where he graduated in 2005. Stephen is competitive, has a wealth of basketball knowledge, and enjoys developing young talent. His most recent coaching assignment was at Delaware County Christian School, leading the Middle School Girls Basketball program. His players this past season showed themselves to be tough, disciplined, talented, and exciting to watch. Under his leadership, the program is developing several players, who as they advance to the next level, will add to our young, talented, and tenacious group of players at the JV and Varsity levels.
Stephen has a B.A. in English and earned an M.B.A. in 2012. In addition to coaching basketball, Stephen has various responsibilities in the Youth and Young Adult departments at New Testament Church of God. He also serves as a mentor to high school students there. Stephen is married to DC alumna Naomi (Hepkins) Poyser and they are the parents of two young sons, Levi and Jordan. Stephen is also the son-in-law of former DC board member Rohan Hepkins.
Stephen takes over a team that had a difficult 2018-19 season, finishing with a 2-22 record and losing in the first round of the PIAA District 1 playoffs. He looks forward to spearheading a new chapter in the Lady Knights Basketball program.
