Students at Delaware County Christian School: a co-ed, independent, interdenominational college prep Christian school near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Inside the Christian School is a series of reflections on aspects of Christian school education. Head of School, Steve Dill and members of the Delaware County Christian School (DC) Community contribute posts to the blog. Readers are encouraged to email authors of the posts with feedback. The content of the writing often uses DC as the example, but hopefully these thoughts also apply to Christian schools throughout the world. God has used Christian schools to shape thousands of believers in the past, and we believe He will continue to use these schools to make significant “kingdom impact” for years to come.

Valuable Experiences at DC

Below are valuable experiences expressed by Delaware County Christian School student ambassador applicants. DC’s Student Ambassador Team serves as tour guides and student hosts. Members are selected based on their quality of character, level of maturity, ability to communicate, and positive influence on the school community.

The most valuable experience I’ve had at DC is that I came to believe in Jesus Christ and have met friends and families whom I can trust and rely on.

I’ve had a few valuable experiences when I’ve been stressed out or upset and teachers have come alongside me, helped me out, and prayed for me.

The chapels and retreats have really made a big impact on me. They have challenged me to really think about the way I live my life and have inspired me to live for Christ.

One of my more valuable experiences has been working on the Tech Crew. By doing so I gained an appreciation of the behind-the-scenes work at DC and made valuable connections with the school and teachers. I also contributed to the school with my talents and abilities which gave me a personal investment in the school!

One of the many valuable experiences I’ve had at DC was the “sharing around the campfire” time my class had at the 8th grade retreat.

One of my best memories at DC is of an all-worship chapel. You could feel the spirit of God. It was amazing!

When I first came to DC, there were many people who prayed for me and encouraged me because I had a hard transition. Now I’m very close to many teachers and friends who prayed for me and believed in me.

I was new last year and I really appreciated the way I was accepted into the DC family. This was especially strong in soccer and wrestling. I formed close bonds with many great people from sports.

The Bible classes I’ve had have changed the way I think about God for the better.

Class unity is and has been very valuable to me. I have been able to grow spiritually, socially, and academically because of the diverse student body that surrounds me.

Being a part of athletic teams have really taught me very valuable lessons over the years. Competing at an intense level while displaying my Christian testimony at the same time, has been very rewarding.

A valuable experience that I’ve had at DC is becoming editor of the yearbook staff. I have learned leadership skills and it has opened so many doors to eventual career paths.

One valuable experience I’ve had at DC was the Concert Choir Tour. On the trip I was able to glorify God and connect with students from many grades.

The most valuable experience was going to the Dominican Republic. Having the opportunity to travel and share the gospel with other DC students was an unforgettable time.

I had the opportunity to host an exchange student from Korea for two years. Through this experience I made an amazing friend and learned a lot about Asian culture.

A valuable experience I have had at DC would be hearing teacher testimonies. They make me realize that teachers have had hardships in their lives as well. It opens teacher-student communication and gives a higher level of respect for one another.
