Mrs. Susan Horton
Many years ago, the Lord gave me the passion to teach young children: to capture the wonder and excitement of the early years, and to start children on their educational adventure knowing learning is fun. I teach so that my students can grow and develop to their maximum potential as they are loved and cared for, encouraged and nurtured.
I began my career as a kindergarten teacher in the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District. In 1994, I began my service here at DC. Along the way, I attained a Master's Degree in elementary/early childhood education. My own children graduated from DC, and I am grateful for the spiritual and academic foundation they received, a complete education including spiritual development and based on biblical truth. As both a parent and a teacher, one of my favorite verses continues to be III John 1:4, 'I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.'
Teaching young children is an incredible blessing. In addition to the hugs and smiles that greet me each morning, what a joy it is to see children's eyes light up when they learn something new, or hear children pray for their families and classmates. Every day, I laugh with my students. Pre-K is a fun place! My classroom is filled with the excitement and enthusiasm of children learning about God's world.
In the summers and on long holidays, I enjoy traveling to see my own children, their spouses, and my three adorable young grandsons!
