Other Information

As a "lifer," I attended DC from K-12. I enjoyed many activities during my tenure, including: basketball, baseball, journalism, drama, NHS, student senate, and impersonating teachers (who are now my co-workers! Funny how that works...). I then transitioned to West Chester University, where I received my B.S.Ed. Since graduating in 2013, I have worked in Coatesville, West Chester, and Marple Newtown teaching both middle school Mathematics and Social Studies.

My interactions in so many districts have led to the formation of amazing relationships and invaluable experience. Being a "planner," if given the choice coming out of college, I probably wouldn't have chosen a path with so many variables for myself. Fortunately, God knew better. Now, looking back, I wouldn't change a thing! Everything that I have experienced has contributed to who I am today - and I'm excited to use what the Lord has done in my life to contribute to the culture at DC! "The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps." Proverbs 16:9 (ESV)

I teach because I believe that God extends us the invitation to engage in His work, providing the opportunity to experience who He is when we approach our work as worship. So when I build relationships with students, when I encourage them to give their best in everything they do, and when I challenge them to push through adversity - I get to experience Christ. And just as importantly, I get to help them experience Him too.

During my first year of teaching, I had an experience with one particularly difficult student that confirmed my call to teaching. This student repeatedly disrupted class through insubordination and showed a general lack of respect. I felt like I would never be able to reach him. But before he left on the last day of school, he came over to me, extended his hand, and said "thanks." I realized that being a consistent presence in his life and demonstrating that I valued him, regardless of his actions, DID make a difference.
