Other Information

When asked as a little kid “What do you want to be when you grow up?” most kids would answer “Astronaut!” or “Doctor!” or “Famous!” and my response would always be “Teacher!” It seemed an obvious answer to me. I grew up performing, it was a huge part of my life and I loved every minute of it, but it was always a hobby. In my senior year of high school, my new drama teacher, Libby Nelson, finally helped me put two and two together and realize I could combine my hobby and the job I dreamed of doing. She ignited in me a passion I didn’t know I had through the way she taught and influenced all of her students through theatre.

I truly believe that theatre can change your life. Theatre is a place where you fit in, and can find something you are good at, no matter who you are. Theatre has given me family, a place to belong and a place to fellowship with other artists for 20 years. I want everyone to experience what theatre can do for them!

I received a degree in Musical Theatre from Ouachita Baptist University in 2011, was certified to teach theatre EC-12, and began teaching at a Christian private school in my home state of Texas soon after graduation. I spent 5 years there learning to be a teacher, mentor and director but most importantly, how to fully integrate my faith into my work. The greatest part of my teaching career has not been how many of my students have gone on to be talented performers, but watching them develop into young men and women of God, humbled that theatre played a small role in who they’ve become.

My husband and I moved to Pennsylvania from Texas in the summer of 2016 so that he could attend UPenn for his PhD in Music Composition. The Lord was so faithful in in providing me this job at DC, I thank Him every day that I'm here. When not teaching or directing at DC, I can be found drinking coffee, watching Oklahoma Sooner football and cuddling with our pup, Ives.
