DC is partnering with Edify to offer a special cross-cultural experience this summer for DC families. This one-week trip to the Dominican Republic from July 14-21, 2019 will leave a lasting impression on children and parents alike. Edify’s Dominican Republic Family Experience, what some call a “vacation with a purpose,” allows DC families to experience firsthand something amazing that God is doing in the Dominican Republic. Edify provides Christ-centered solutions to the global education crisis in the developing world. With a biblical worldview perspective, they support indigenous school “edupreneurs” across 11 developing nations through micro-financing, training, and technology. They have impacted over 1 million children in more than 4,000 schools over the last 10 years. Click here to watch a video of DR Family Experience.
DC parents Nick and Pam Hackett have been involved with Edify for several years, and have made multiple visits to their schools in the D-R. Pam shares “My time working with Edify schools and having the opportunity to visit them helped give me a more global perspective on the value of Christ-centered education and how blessed we are at DC. When you visit schools in developing countries, it also lets you encourage our brothers and sisters and be blessed by how they, through faith, overcome challenges. Edify is an organization built on relationships, and these trips help foster those connections. What a great opportunity for DC families to get out of our comfort zone and have a real impact in the larger Christian community.” Nick adds: “Edify’s missions model exemplifies how those of us blessed to live in the US can effectively support trusted and passionate local school leaders in delivering Christ-centered education throughout the underserved areas of the world. The Family Experience is a life changing opportunity to see the impact of this work first hand through a unique combination of missions-trip and vacation.”
