Upper School

In the Upper School division of High School Academic HandbookDelaware County Christian School we seek to live out our six core values in all that we do and say. We strive for excellence in every area beginning with our college preparatory curriculum and continuing with our co-curricular programs. At this time we offer thirteen Advanced Placement courses in our School of Liberal Arts, in addition to thirty courses that are characterized by applied and innovative learning. In these courses, our students have the opportunity to learn deeply and invest large chunks of time in three different areas: Humanities and Entrepreneurship; Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM); and the Arts. Within each of these Schools of Applied and Innovative Learning (SAIL) are dedicated professionals who will help students connect the work of thinking to the work of doing, preparing them for college and beyond like no other school in our area. DC’s liberal arts approach to learning allows students to think deeply and broadly; SAIL allows them to take action, develop solutions, and create meaningful products. This combination of liberal arts studies and applied and innovative learning epitomizes our core value of scholarship.

As a school deeply rooted in Christ, we seek to impress upon our students the understanding that all truth is God’s truth, and we desire that a relentless pursuit of the truth become a daily reality. Whether working hard in a history class, diving into a Scripture passage in our weekly community chapels, publishing an article or poem, or building our DC community by cheering on our actors in our annual musical or “raising the roof” in our gymnasium at a basketball game, we strive to work hard to glorify God in all areas – and it’s so exciting to see this played out on a daily basis.

The Upper School division not only prepares students for the next level of education, but for life. Our students learn how to grow through successes and failures and how to engage in servanthood with humility and compassion. They will be leaders who make an impact wherever they go, because they will know how to be creative thinkers, problem solvers, and collaborative workers! DC strives for excellence and those who choose to partner with us will enjoy an academic journey like none they’ve ever had before!
