Student Support Services
Delaware County Christian School (DC) views all students as valued, unique image bearers of God, and views human intellect as that which can be shaped and developed. As such, Student Support Services (SSS) exists to serve diverse nontraditional learners, who have needs that require supplemental services and/or accommodations in addition to the regular classroom. We seek to support these students in order to achieve success in a Christian, college preparatory, school program. Our SSS faculty provide a safe and secure learning environment that both nurtures and challenges. Respecting and appreciating whom God made their students to be, they care deeply about their well-being in general and their success in school specifically, and they desire for students to find joy in learning.
Education is seen as a means used by God to develop Christian minds so that individuals can fulfill God’s will in their lives both personally and vocationally. Through SSS programs, students are encouraged to understand and use their God-given gifts and to build on their areas of strength and stimulate growth in their areas of weakness through small group settings. As these students develop a clear sense of themselves as learners, set goals, and self-advocate, they grow in their understanding of how best to approach their studies from a perspective of strength. Supporting students in becoming capable learners involves communicating with other key individuals in students’ lives. In light of this reality, Student Support Services partners with parents as a support for their children’s needs, and teams with teachers as a resource to implement instructional and testing accommodations in the regular classroom.
We pray that each student will claim: “By my God I can scale a wall.” Psalm 18:29We want to inspire young men and women to aspire to all that the Lord has in store for them!
