At DC we value our partnerships, both locally and across the country. Whether we regularly interact with our partners through service, curriculum extension, or participating quarterly or annual idea sharing session, partnerships strengthen organizations. ACSI's Flourishing Schools research indicates that students who engage with community have a greater likelihood of continuing to walk in their faith after high school graduation.

Pine View Nursing Home

Building intergenerational relationships, our upper school students visit Pine View Nursing Home biweekly to chat and play games with residents. Art students have painted a mural, and the DC football team has supported grounds work projects. Our lower school students support our neighbors by sending cards, and our fifth-grade choir shares their musical gifts in an annual concert for the residents.

Brandywine Conservancy

Through DC's Outdoor Learning program, we have established a relationship with Brandywine Conservancy. Students across our four academic divisions extend their classroom curriculum outdoors into neighboring Waterloo Mills Preserve. Second grade students study the impact erosion, fifth grade students visit the preserve as part of their water cycle study, and our Upper School Environmental Science class has partnered with the preserve to study the impact of earthworms on the forest ecosystem with the goal of improving the soil conditions of the forest floor.

Partnerships with Churches

Our DC students represent over 150 different church communities across the region. Each year we host a Pastor’s Breakfast seeking to pour into these pastors, providing a morning of fellowship and encouragement. These pastors also are regularly invited to speak at chapels across our academic divisions, and several pastors also lead mid-week discipleship groups for our Middle School or Upper School students during their lunch block.
